Thanks Ruth for the info on Elizabeth Cripe's family in Bond Co, IL. I think now that is the connection of Wiley's brother, Robert marrying a Rench. It seems Wiley could have died in the Civil War. Several of this family served from Bond Co. Wiley and Robert's nephew, George W. Powell was my g-grandfather and I have a picture and an article posted on the IL Civil War page. Funny they came from Clarksville and I just visited there. There were other Powells who we think were somehow related that served in the Confederacy, but all of my line joined the Union forces. Maybe a dissagreement in the family that had roots going far back?
George was in the 26th IL Inf, his brother was in the 101 IL Inf. and Robert was also in an IL Regiment. I'm going to have to research what happened to Wiley.
Thanks again,
Linda Garrett
