Sorry to be so long in answering your message but I have been away for a few weeks. My ancestor is Louisa Crissup sister to your Newton Jasper. The information I have is what I have already posted. I believe their parents to be Robert Crissup and Jane Harlan BUT I have been unable to prove it so far.

Louisa married Brantley Garrett and their oldest son was Hugh Brison Garrett. Your Bryson Garrett is most likely named after him. Hugh Brison and Newton Jasper where about the same age. Jasper came to IL with Louisa and Brantley or at least shortly after and is on the 1850 census living with them. The last record I have for Jasper was 1885 in Sigal, Shelby Co. IL but I will have to check to find out what that record is.

Another sister Mary Ann married Bergis Ramsey and is living next door to Jasper in 1860 per the census.

I need to get my notes out and brush up on them and then if you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.

I will look forward to working with you and gladly share any information I have.

Sonya Smith
