Oh my goodness. You may have just solved a mystery of origin that I have been looking for for over thirty years. Please , please tell me the origin of what you just wrote.
This is my wife's line, Montgomery. Her maiden name is Linda Montgomery.(I do all the genealogy)She is descended from Hiram Montgomery, one of the supposed children of Ailsie and her unknown husband. She appeared in the 1820 Census without husband and I have been searching for him along with many others since the late 60's.The family story Linda's father told was that his name was Noah and that the family came in with Oglethorpe.
Needless to say I am eager to know more.
Some years back, another relative picked up on the Hugh Montgomery as being one of the family. We knew that Ailsie had remarried to John Thomason, and the relative had read the census and mentioned the Alice Thomason but didn't mention the 100 year old woman living there also.Only recently, I had picked up looking again, and was trying to tie down the birth state of each of the children to see if I could find a father by process of elimination and land grants or something.I looked at the census just a few weeks ago and couldn't believe that the person would leave out a 100 year old woman in the same household. So, I posted it on the internet not knowing whether it was a relative of Alsie or Hugh's wife.
I am EXCITED and eager to hear more.Answering in this forum is alright but you can just e-mail me direct.I am all ears.
