LOOKING FOR THE INDIAN CONNECTION IN THE CROCKER FAMILY FROM ALABAMA

Hi, I know this is an old posting, but hope you see it. I know nothing of the past Crocker people, but there is an indian connection through marriage from my family. My great grandma Rachel Thornton b. 1901 had a sister named Lucille that married an Ed Crocker (not sure if it was Edwin or Edward) all in NC, especially Johnston Co. area. Lucille and Rachel were Cherokee, as were their sister Clara and brother Leamon. As too how much, not sure, Rachel didn't hide her heritage from family, but did tell them to mark white on all census and records. Just wasn't "cool" back then, especially if you looked like one. Anyways, Rachel was actually buried in the Crocker family cemetery, and so was her son Willard. So there is an indian connection through marriage, the children of ED and my great great aunt Lucille, and their children's children. If Lucille was half, her children would be 1/4, and their children an 1/8, still twice as much needed to get tribal membership with the Eastern band of Cherokee (provided you can find a direct ancestor on the Baker Roll). Also, I've got plently of photos of Rachel and her children, but not sure if I have one of Lucille, I may be able to find one though that other family members might have. My e-mail's [email protected]
