For Montgomery Co., PA, Croll researches I am not researching this family but thought this might be of value to Croll researchers.

Montgomery Ledger, Pottstown, Montgomery County, PA
February 14, 1882

TERRIBLE ACCIDENT
A very serious accident occurred on Friday evening, the 10th inst., at the Railroad Hotel at Pennsburg, Montgomery County, kept by Mr. Abraham CROLL, Jr. The family were sitting at supper, soon after six o'clock, when Miss HITTLE, the housekeeper for Mr. CROLL, noticed that the flame in the fluid lamp which was on a table in the room back of the dining room was burning down into the oil or fluid. She raised her apron to fan out the lower flame - as she says she has often done before - but in doing so struck and overturned the lamp, which fell, causing the fluid to ignite and flash up in a blaze. Her clothing took fire instantly and burned so rapidly that she could not extinguish it, but ran around the room screaming for help. Abraham CROLL, Sr., and his son Abraham CROLL, Jr., landlord of the hotel, came to Miss HITTLE's assistance at once, and succeeded in putting out the fire by rolling her in the carpet, but in doing so both were shockingly burned about the hands and arms. Miss HITTLE is terribly scorched on the left arm, left side, and other parts of the body and her recovery is considered doubtful. The elder Mr. CROLL is also badly burned, and is in a critical condition the doctors fearing that mortification may ensue. Abraham CROLL Jr., received painful injuries, but will be all right in a short time, it is thought.

The young woman, Miss HITTLE, is a daughter of Jacob HITTLE, who lives near Huber's Church. She has been living with the CROLL family for some time. Abraham CROLL Sr., is a well known citizen and former hotel keeper of Upper Hanover, and is advanced in years. The hotel at which this accident occurred is owned we believe by Mr. BINDER of Pottstown.

At last accounts the two persons so badly injured were suffering very much. They are attended by Drs. MENSCH and HILLEGASS.
