I am aware of a George Cromar in Bruce County, Ontario, in 1854. He was the Reeve for the Townships of Greenock and Culross. His brother James (b. 12/12/1835 in Scotland, d. 12/14/1907 in Hill Hall, Sask.)was the Town Clerk at that time. James married my ancestor, the widowed Charlotte Bacon Smith. They had no Cromar children, but did adopt her daughter's son and named him George Robert Cromar. George Robert was my grandfather.

This may or may not fit into your family.
