Jeremiah Crook, born 1798

To all of you that have posted data and ask questions about Jeremiah Crook, born in 1798, have you seen a copy of his obituary that was in the "Christian Advocate"?? I came across this in a recent search of my Grandmother Grizzard's Yates line in a book called "Ancestor Trails to Georgia and Alabama", featuring Clay and Randolph Counties of Alabama by: Dorman Laurez McDonald. This article only listed 2 of Jeremiah's wives, Sally M. Baxter and Mary J. Booth, but I think that he had another wife. Does anyone know who she might have been and what number she was?? I think that she was number 1 (one) wife as on the 1850 Alabama Census in Chambers Co., Al. there was an Ophelia Crook, age 44, living with Jeremiah Crook, age 51. It said both were born in South Carolina. On the 1850 Alabama Census of Jeremiah Crook there were 5 children listed: William Joshua, Emery, Holloway, Elizabeth and Hasseltine Crook.

The book mentioned above has a list of his children (10 in all) but it says that their mothers are Sally M. Baxter and Mary Booth and it makes no mention of Ophelia, who I think was Ophelia Adams.

I hope this helps someone. If you want what the obituary of Jeremiah Crook says, email me at: and I will type in in for you or if you want I will be glad to post it here on the Crook genforum for everyone.
