BOSSIER CITY, LA - Funeral services for Carolyn Vishnefski will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3800 Viking Drive, Bossier City on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Pike Thomas, assisted by Msgr. J. Carson LaCaze. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

Mrs. Vishnefski, 67, died on Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was born in Shreveport, was a graduate of Fair Park, Air Age Institute in Kansas City, Mo and attended BPCC. Following several years of working in the Pentagon for the Department of the Air Force and Navy, she returned to Louisiana. It was in Washington D.C. that she met Richard (Dick) Vishnefski, who was in the Navy, working in Naval Security. They married in 1962 and returned to reside in Bossier City in 1963. Carolyn worked for Judge Gayle K. Hamilton as a legal secretary for several years. GE then employed her for 16 years where she received numerous awards and commendations for her accounting work until retirement. She then went to work for Skyco Alarm Systems and the Bossier Parish Police Jury as a Payroll Specialist. She enjoyed working with the Police Jury very much.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Richard S. Vishnefski, father, Fred Jackson Crook, mother, Madie Evelyn Townsend Crook Squyres and her stepfather, Elvin A. Squyres.

She is survived by two sons, David Stephen Vishnefski and Donald Alan Vishnefski, both of Bossier City; sister, Doris Evelyn Lee and husband Bobby of Arkansas; family friends, Johnnie Miller and Cynthia Gill and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a charter member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Carolyn served as President of St. Jude Ladies Guild, and was a charter member of the Parish Council, where she also served as Secretary.

She was very active in the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Bossier Kaycee Auxiliary where she served as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member. She was elected "Sister of the Year" in 1984.

Mrs. Vishnefski was a member of the Kaycee Council of Auxiliaries of Louisiana, Inc., where she was elected to serve on the State levels as State President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Parliamentarian. She remained a member of the Board of directors and was asked numerous times to be the Mistress of Ceremonies at various banquets.

She loved to spend time in her flowerbeds and read mystery novels.

Memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.

Honoring Mrs. Vishnefski as pallbearers will be Laurence. P. McGowan, John Jennings, Michael Joyner, Tom R. Koch, Bobby Remedies and Ben Davidson. Rose-Neath Funeral Home
