The Mansfield is not a name my mother is familiar with all she remembers is a Snelling but thats the right Ester so I believe that she did remarry. But my mother thought she remarried at Snelling which may had sometime I'm not for sure but obviously remarried to a this Mansfield guy to at a time in her life. I wonder what Emil Otterbine's fathers name was maybe it was his father that imigrated from Germany and it was Emil his son that was German to but was born in the States, PA. Story goes that Otterbine came to America when he was 14yrs old and joined the military and served in WWI and possibly died then. O' found something out today my mother has Mary Carniece Broglin's Birth certificate. When my grandfather Ivery William Crook passed away it was with his things. So, theres a connection. Half brother and half sister they would be. I do believe that my grandfather Ivery was born out of wedlock. Thats how there is that connection with the Broglin's. But whats even more interesting to me is that his dad died Ernest William Crook died in 1919 like a year or so after Ivery was born. Maybe it was Moonshine poisoning which would be alcohol poisoning or thats what Ivery was told. Being born out of wedlock was horrible back in that time and my understanding was women would get stoned for that. So being a hush hush hide this wedlock, Ivery's birth was never recorded. My grandfather would say his step-father was a mean man. But you know many kids don't like a step father so don't have any real proof. I would like to know when Grover Broglin and Rilla Loretta Synder got married. This is another possible connection I found about Crook Family Stories someone had posted on the Crook family forums. http://genforum.genealogy.com/crook/messages/1773.html
Long story short a Crook man in the 1800's had himself shipped in a coffin from one of the Carolinas to some where in west Tennessee and at the "funeral" he popped out of the coffin killing 1 or more people. The story has something to do with an affair of a wife or sister, he supposed to have killed or tried to kill the offending man. --I'm wondering if there is a connection with Ernest William Crook there...maybe why he died or could be revenge on the death of Ernest. I don't know for all I know there could had been a family feud starting with Ivery born out of wedlock. That story would fit a Crooks personality. The Crook's have there own family feuds but when it comes to another having problem with a family member they will be there in a heart beat to support"Crook" member. I wish I could find out who was at the funeral or who's funeral it was suppose to be. Just some food for thought. Tell me what you think or anyone else that may read this. Thank you again for all your help. Sincerely, Cassie
