A note regarding my other response. I went back and looked again at the 1850 census, checking the census image instead of going by the transcription. Saluthard is not a correct transcription. Looking at the image, the final letter is definitely an "l" as it looks exactly like the "l" in Gabriel on the preceding line. It is difficult to tell what the two letter between the "h" and "l" are.

Since his name is so unusual, I went looking for Salathial in later census records. I found him in 1900, 1910 and 1920 in Fayette, TN, with wife Nancy and children: Martha, Crompton, Elmore, Flussy, Myrtle, Blanche, and Clara Bell. In 1920 his brother, Gabriel M. CROOK, age 76, is living with them.

In 1880 there's this family in Fayette, TN:
CROOK, Solomon, age 80 b. SC, widowed, father b. SC, mother b. VA
grandson Solathad A. age 32 b. TN, married, father b. VA, mother b. TN
granddau Nancy J. age 23 b. TN, married,both parents b. TN
dau-in-law Emily C. age 48 b. TN, widowed, both parents b. VA
greatgranddau Martha J. age 3 b. TN, both parents b. TN
greatgrandson Compton E. age 5m. b. TN, both parents b. TN
grandson J.B. age 20 b. MS, father b. VA, mother b. TN
grandson John P. age 16 b. MS, father b. VA, mother b. TN

The above Nancy ought to be listed as granddau-in-law, wife of "Solathad" and mother to Martha and Compton.

I think some time between 1870 and 1880 Martha died and James remarried to Emily, then James died and the whole family moved in with James' father, Solomon.

In addition to the 1880 census, there's a Solomon CROOK b. 1800 in SC, living in Fayette, TN in the 1860 and 1850 censuses. In 1850 the household includes 50yr old Solomon, Sally, age 49, b. NC, David A., age 20, b. SC, Peter R., age 18 b. TN, and George M., age 15, b. TN
