Thank you for your response.If you are certain that Ann Cropper was a White before her marriage, then I suppose there isn't a connection to the Wises, at least not a close one.Joanna Hunter was the widow of William Hunter who died in Cecil County between 1840 and 1850.Before she was married to Hunter, she was married to John M. Wise in Baltimore early in the 1800's.Wisedied in Florida in 1821.Joanna then married William Hunter there. Hunter seems to have been a career military man.After his post at St. Augustine, he was sent to Ft. Delaware.I'm not sure how he landed in Cecil County.
I was hoping that there might be a tie between the Croppers who were in Worcester County and the Wises there.Joanna's first husband John Wise was born there, in Snow Hill, around 1780.I didn't know how significant it was that Ann Cropper and Joanna Hunter shared a household in 1860.I'm trying to identify John M. Wise's parents; there are many candidates, including another John M. Wise or one of his brothers.
