The LDS 1880 census transcription,

(Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace)

John W. CROSLEY Self M Male W 35 OH Farmer OH OH
Cyntha J. CROSLEY Wife M Female W 31 OH Keeping House OH OH
James J. CROSLEY Son S Male W 10 IA OH OH
Eva B. CROSLEY Dau S Female W 7 IA OH OH
Cora M. CROSLEY Dau S Female W 3 IA OH OH

They are in South Twp, Madison Co., Iowa then. This family is the only Cynthia Cros(s)ley living with HoH John Crossley in the US. That, the fact the initials match and the county is right makes me think they are yours. Bertha was probably born just after 1880. If James J. is the oldest child, James W. and Cynthia were probably married 1867 - 1870.

The US Gen Web page for Madison County,
has 6 hits for "Crossley", 7 for "Crosley" and 15 for "Hardy".

One of them is JW & CJ's marriage, on 05-14-1868. I peeked to see if my estimate from the census was any good. I'll leave the rest for you.
is the archives - not quite the same as the Gen Web site. According to it, a John Crosley of South Twp. has a biograpy in the 1879 history of Madison County. You might get a volunteer to transctibe the page, or you might write to the library in Winterset with a SASE and a small donation to ask if they would send you a copy.

The archives have multiple hits on Crosley, Crossley and Hardy.
