Recommend you order FHL Films 1537566 & 1537571 & at your local LDS Family History Center. 1537566 has St. Chad Church Rochdale, Lancashire, England Baptisms 1728-1801 & burials 1700-1746 and 1537571 has Name index Chourton-Deanforth for those records. The index for John Crossley shows baptisms for a John on 17 Dec 1739, 12 Jan 1740 and 19 Dec 1747. I suspect your John is that baptized 12 Jan 1740. There are many other films available for other time periods.

My wife is a descendant of John Crossley baptized 1780, son of James baptized 1740, son of Thomas baptized 1712, son of James baptized 1673, etc. All of Rochdale Parish, Lancashire, England
