I am a descendent of William Henry Crossley, s/o David and Vashti Crossley.

Independent research in the Waters/Farrow/Rainwater/Bobo families of South Carolina reference the parents of David J. (or I.) Crossley as:

Elisha Crossley - father
Dorcas (Bobo) Crossley - mother

Elisha appears on the Spartenburg District, SC 1810 and 1830 census (I can't find the records for 1820 online), but then he does not appear on 1840. Dorcas Crossley is listed as the Head of Household on the 1840 census. This would indicate that Elisha had died (or skipped out on her) between 1830 and 1840.

I have also found references for Elisha's parents and grandparents but those are a little unsure.

Cheers!

Jim Crossley
