Look at a message posted by Stephanie Farrell, July 26, 2001, in reply to "Crowe Family - Nova Scotia" by William Robert Mattingly.
It lists a John Crowe b. 1838. Could this be the person you're looking for?
Patrick Crowe b. 1798 in Ireland m. Elizabeth McCarthy
children: Emmeline b. 1830 VT, Mary b. 1834 VT, Ellen b. 1835 VT, John b. 1838 NY, Michael b. 1840 NY, Elizabeth b. 1843 NY, Margaret b. 1845 NY, Matilda b. 1848 NY, Julia b. 1850 NY, Patrick Jr. b 1855 NY. Also apparently Jane b. 1831 in Canada, so maybe Emmeline is also b. Canada?
I am descended from Mary (and my full name is John Crowe McGreivey).
I am also investigating whether this Matilda is the Tilly Crowe who according to family legend was a big woman who worked on the Erie canal docks and could beat any man in a fight.
Also curious whether Patrick Jr could be the outlaw Pat Crowe, who (if my memory serves me) originally came from NY. He would be about the right age, I think.
