I think I am tracking the same Richard Crowninshield. I am trying to discover the exact association of the Crowinshield family and the Manning family in Essex, Essex, NY around 1900. I find a Richard Crowninshield in the 1910 & 1900 US Censuses and I belive he is the same man in the NY State Census for 1892. I don't find him elsewhere. The Manning family in whom I am interested is living next to Richard in the 1900 census. In the 1910 cenus, Mrs. Manning has remarried but she and the children are still living next to Richard. In that new household is a Louisa Crowinshield, mother-in-law of the new husband. I assume that means that Edith (Crowninshield??) Manning Legrave is the daughter of Louisa then listed as age 68.

I'm not sure what relationship Louisa and Edith may have with Richard other than extremely close proximity. Although Richard would appear to be a few years younger than Louisa, she could have been his first wife. He was living with his second wife in the census records.

I would be happy to exchange information.
