Liz, Thanks for your reply.
I am trying to reconstruct my Essex Co., VA roots to link back to Frances Cox b. 1711 daughter of William Cox and John Gatewood.
Later in Essex Co.,VA, thru land patents & descriptions of lacations, I'm trying to sort out my Essex Co., VA Cox family. One promising lead is the marriage of Mary W. Dunn & William C. Cox Nov 21st 1832 (a possible GGGGF or GGGG uncle & aunt). Another possibility is the marriage of Kitty Dunn & Sthreshley Cox Dec 8th 1834. The name "Sthreshley, Threshley, & Thrashley" come up frequently in my family. My direct line is to HENRY COX b.1835 & MARTHA ANN (CLARKE) COX b. 1838 of Dunnsville Essex Co. One of their children was Threshly Cox, It is likely that Henry's brother, uncle, or father was also a Threshly. I've "toyed" with the idea that the name "Sthreshley" may have derived from the surname "Strachey" as this family married into Cox in Essex Co. (Arabella Strachey & Henry Cox). I feel confident I come from this Henry-William-Henry line that also contained a John Cox or two. I'm working very hard to sort these folks out.
If you have any info that will help me sure things up with the Gatewoods or Dunns, or Croxton, Clarke, Bookers or Lewis, Please let me know. Anything, even childrens names or places helps.
Thanks again, please send anything you have.
