Jacob Grumbach and his father Conradt were on the list of passengers arriving in Philadelphia from Rotterdam on the ship Dragon during September 1749. The family name evolved through a number of variations to Crubaugh mostly by the year 1790. Jacob was born in Germany ca. 1730-33 and fathered six children (George, Nicholas, Michael, Frederick, Mary and John), mostly in Cumberland county PA. Various descendants moved to areas around Columbiana and Butler counties in OH and then to IN, WI and IL before speading throughout the country. I'm descended through John (b 1782), William (b 1804), James (b 1841) and Millard (b 1884).
With the belief that most Crubaugh's have descended from Jacob, I have started to prepare a descendants chart in an attempt to eventually display all the branches of his family tree. My brother Jerry in FL and our distant cousin Bill in OH have worked together for 25 yrs examining censuses, visiting courthouses, etc, to study the early records and have located many contemporary Crubaughs. Now I'm attemping to locate more "cousins" through the internet. I look forward to corresponding with you through this forum or at my e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Hopefully we can together find the answers to our genealogical questions and get to know each other.
