Thanks for responding to my posting! I believe Lee Cruce is related to your line, although perhaps not as directly as you may have thought.

Lee Cruce (7/8/1863 - 1/16/1933) is in fact the son of James W. and Jane (Hill) Cruce, and he served as the second governor of Oklahoma between 1911 and 1915. Born in Crittenden Kentucky, this Lee Cruce was actually the grandson of Richard and Mary "Polly" (Wheeler) Cruce, and the great grandson of Isaac Newton and Jane (?Brown) Cruce who first located this branch of the Cruce family into Kentucky in 1805.

As near as I can tell, your line should trace its origins in Okalahoma back through a southern route. Beginning with Isaac James Cruce (wife Sarah Adeline Minor) who arrived in Oklahoma during the 1889 land rush, and through Isaac Jamesí father, Moses Nelson "Mose" Cruce [with wife Adeline (Medford) "Lanier" Cruce]. Mose, who was born in South Carolina and died in Gwinnett Co., Georgia, was the son of Stephen Cruce and Hannah "Stone" Cruce.

The common ancestor of both of these Okalahoma Cruce lines is Richard Cruce (born ca. 1735 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Charity Gregory. Richard and Charity were the parents of the following children:

1) Isaac Newton Cruce (1756-1816)
b. Belfast, Ireland, d. Livingston Co., Ky.
2) Thomas Gregory Cruce (1759-___)
b. Belfast, Ireland
3) Amelia Cruce (1761-___)
b. Belfast, Ireland
4) Mary Cruce (1764-___)
b. Belfast Ireland
5) Richard Cruce (1766 or 1772-1847)
b. Belfast, Ireland, d. Georgia.
6) Stephen Cruce (1770-1856)
b. Belfast, Ireland, d. Gwinnett Co., Ga.
7) John Nicholas Cruce (ca. 1775-(speculative)
b. Spartanburgh District, S.C.
8) George Washington Cruce (ca 1785-ca 1829)
b. Spartanburgh District, S.C.
