Disappointed
In Entertainment
I am writing as one of 12 seniors who attended a recent Middletuners concert and were extremely disappointed. We had all been looking forward to a good, old-fashioned sing-along, which is what was supposed to occur. Unfortunately, it seemed more an evening of a political nature than one of entertainment. The female emcee seemed more interested in being center stage. She spent more time with introductions of different people than we spent singing. There were at least three solos (in a sing-along)?
The only time we heard the Middletuners sing was when we were allowed to sing, which was seldom. Before each song, the emcee would have someone come up to the stage to sing the song and then we would join in. Among this emcee's many introductions were the mayor and a postmaster she had met two weeks ago and who never even sang. Nothing against the postmaster, but exactly what was the purpose of her introduction at a sing-along?
All of us were so disappointed at the ruined evening. We all left at intermission because we truly had had enough of what could have been a very enjoyable evening.
It would be a big help to the Middletuners if they first got a new emcee who actually knew what they were doing and how to do it, and to stick to music rather than politics when that is what they are advertising.
It would have been nice if they had given the audience what they had advertised. I believe this event will probably cause many to not return to future shows. I speak only for myself when I say I would never return to one of their performances in the future. How sad to disappoint so many people!
