Hi Thomas
I have a copy of an 1840 directory showing William Wilson, Saddler h20 W.Water c Meadow but I am afraid I don't know when the Wilson's left England,I am assuming between 1820 and 1840.An 1820 federal census for New Haven shows a William Wilson of 40 and under 50 with 2 females under 20 and 1 female 50 to 60 years which would apply but because of the lack of other information it is impossible to know if it relates to them. Apparently William owned land extending from The Westville Cemetery to the junction of Whalley and Blake Street.Henry Whittlesey had a crockery store in New Haven and one in Waterbury. I realise that Wilson is a very common name but hoped that the unusual name of Cowap might help.
Thank you for your interest.
