Another thing you might want to try (if you haven't already) is to search in familiar territory for the surname of one of the female family members one generation (or more) before the 'brick wall' family member. I did that and found a wealth of information on my father's maternal side of the family.

BTW...my Prindle's stopped in Texas for the most part, coming from Michigan, Iowa, Connecticut (that's where I'm stuck) and from across the pond as far as I can tell.
