The people that I remember in Bristol were named LaBombard. Perhaps you may have luck there.
Welch was the name of prominent businessmen in Bristol who traced their lines back to a Hiram Welch whose family hailed from Chatham, Connecticut (East Hampton), However, there is another Welch family--not connected to Hiram--I am told.
