was born Abt. 1843 in Scotland, Windham County, CT, and died Aft. 1905 in Located Him In
Goshen City Directory, Elkhart Co., IN. He married (1) MARY D. HUNTINGTON October
08, 1865 in Prob. Rensselear County, NY, daughter of GEORGE HUNTINGTON and MARIA
UPHAM. He married (2) ELIZA IRENA COOK October 22, 1892 in Lyons, Clinton County,
IA, daughter of ALEXANDER COOK and ELIZA STAYE.
Notes for ALBERT AUGUSTUS CARPENTER:
1860 NY Federal Census has Albert working in a paper mill at age 16 in the township of
Nassau, Rensselaer County, NY. Nearest PO is Schodack Center. In that area, he met Mary D.
Huntington as her family is from Stephentown, NY about 30 miles east of Nassau , NY.
1865 - Oct 5, Albert and Mary Married in NY, I do not have the township or county names as
yet. See Georges (his son) notes on his birth place. Allen Budge, NY, Or Malden Bridge or
Ulin Bridge, NY. could not read birthplace on Georges death certificate.
1867 - Alberts' son George is born in NY (Georges death Certificate reads 9/1/1866, Census
1900 reads 9/1/1868)
1869/1870 - Anna L (daughter of Albert Augustus) is born in Pittstown, Rensselaer County,
1875 - Alberts' son Egbert is born in IL (Poss. Chicago). some of Mary D. Huntingtons' uncle,
John Babcock Huntington and his children, Mary D. (Huntington) Carpenter cousins, seem to be
1880 - Census shows Albert with wife Mary, children: George (13), Anna (10) and Egbert (5
yrs old) in Lyons City, (now city of Clinton) in Clinton County, IA.
1884 - Albert's son Wilfred L. is born 6/1/1884 in Iowa (1900 Census) A Wilfred Carpenter
(no Middle initial) is listed as born 7/25/1884 to Albert Augustus Carpenter and Mary D.
Huntington on the docket in Lyons, IA. Which further verifies 1880 census as parents of George
A. Carpenter. connecting the Brother of George as Wilfred in the 1900 Elkhart, IN Fed. Census.
1892 - Sept. 13- Mary D. (Huntington) Carpenter divorces Albert Augustus Carpenter in Lyons,
Clinton, IA. Divorce papers on file there.
1892- Oct. 22- Albert Augustus Carpenter remarries Eliza Irene Cook, (whose parents are from
PA), moves to Elkhart, IN with her as he is in the 1905 up to the 1906 city directories as a
cigar salesman for Hogan Cigar Co. He disappears after this, He is not in Appleton, WI where
his son Egbert and his wife and his son George are in 1906. checked the 1908 Directory in
Appleton and nothing. there is no 1907 directory in the library in Appleton, Wi.. Alberts'
marriage certificate. states he is born in Scotland, Windham County, CT and his fathers name is
Wm. E. Carpenter and his mothers name is Ann B. Martin.
1893 - Albert's son George has daughter Matie on Sept. 29, 1893 in IA (1900 Census)
1894 - Albert's son George has son Howard Frank 11/14/1894 in IN (1900 Census)
1896 - Albert's son George has son Willie E. on Dec 19,1896 in IA. (1900 Census) and Willie
E. dies in Appleton, WI on 12/30/1915 of Leakage of Heart. so family is in WI in 1915. (Death
Certificate List a town birth place of Willies' father George A. Carpenter as Allen Budge
(could be Malden Bridge), Columbia County NY ( near northern border of county and near
Nassau, Rensselaer County, NY.. Unable to locate this 1860's name township.
1898- Nov. 17 Mary D. (Huntington) Carpenter expires-- Huntington Genealogy Memoirs.
Place of death C(S)lidell, St. Tammany Parish, LA.
Anna Gale Huntington, of Elkhart, IN., is Bridesmaid to Grandchild of Albert A. (Matie J.
1899-1906 Albert is living in Goshen, Elkhart County, IN as he is listed in the City Directory
of that year. Elkhart county Heath Department. has no record of his Death record. so he must
have moved with new wife Eliza Irena Cook possibly to Pa where his wife is from.
1900 - Albert's son George is Back in Elkhart, IN (1900 Census) with his family of Matie,
Howard, Willie, and his Brother Wilfred L., who would have been 16 yrs old. Georges mother
had died 11/17/1898. . Located Albert Augustus Carpenter in Goshen,( City Directory), Elkhart
County, IN in 1899-1906 alive with his new wife Eliza.
1906- Georges family first appears in city directory of Appleton, W, with no Albert, his father,
in same household. but George brother Egbert and Egberts wife (Olive Smith) is living at the
same address of 733 Law St.
1910 - Albert's son George is in Appleton, WI with his family (Georges' obituary says he lived
in Appleton for past 40 yrs (actually more like 45 yrs) if he moved there in 1906 and George A.
died in 7/26/1950. He obviously was in Appleton, WI on 12/30/1915 when his son Willie E.

George A. Carpenter, 83, Appleton, died about 6 am this morning after a short illness.
He was born in New York, Sept. 1, 1866 (Birth Cert.) or /9/1/1868 1900(Elkhart, IN Census),
and lived in Appleton, WI, for the last 40 Yrs.
Friends may call at the Brettschneider Funeral Home from noon Thursday until the time of
services, which will be held at the funeral home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon.

Notes for HOWARD FRANK CARPENTER:
Moved with his family to Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY in about 1927/1928 from
Neenah-Menasha, WI. lived with his parents most of his life.
After returning home from the service, he got two bonus checks with the first one he bought a
car in photograph., with the second check he got about 1935 about $600, he bought Phyllis Ann
a new bike, Patricia got roller skates Richard Gene and William Lee got second hand bikes and
Fritz Jr. got a red wagon. As my aunt Phyllis related this story she said humorously 'that all the
kids in the family got traveling companions.' They lived on Cayuga Drive in Niagara Falls, NY
when this happened.

METZLER, Catherine of 10th Street formerly of LaSalle Area of Niagara Falls, NY died in
Memorial Nursing Home, Thursday, May 25, 1989. Mother of Phyllis Carpenter, this city, Lois
Brydges of the Town of Niagara, & the late Richard, William, & Howard Carpenter. sister of
Della Schmanski & Martha Jansen both of Menasha, Wi. She is survived by 7 grandchildren
and 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday at 9:30 at the LANE FUNERAL HOME. 8622 BUFFALO AVE, Burial in the Gate of
Heaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Sunday and 7-9 PM on
Monday. May 27,28, 29
