PHILLIPS of Griswold/Preston CT.

I am searching for the parentage of my ggg-grandfather, Thomas Phillips of Griswold, Connecticut. According to his age given in 1850 and 1860 census listings, he was born about 1806. Thomas married Susan(nah) Olin 21 September 1825 in Lisbon, CT. I strongly suspect that Thomas Phillips' father was also named Thomas Phillips, since there is a listing for a Thomas Phillips in the 1820 census for Griswold with a son in the age group (10-15 yrs.) my ggg-grandfather would be in for 1820 (he would have been about 14).
Is anyone researching the Phillips family of Griswold/Preston, CT.?? I'm trying to find out where my Thomas fits in. Is he a descendant of the very large family of Jonathan & Esther (Ayers) Phillips of Preston?
Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
