My information about William Cubbins and his family is much the same as yours. I descend from his daughter Paralee Cubbins and husband James Roland Fuson (sometimes spelled Fuston).

You may know already that Unicey (a misspelling of Eunice) was the daughter of Sampson Braswell and Priscilla Williams (daughter of William Williams and Lucretia "Lucreasy" Braswell). Perhaps Unicey's youngest daughter's name of LouCressa was an attempt at naming her after her mother Lucretia (the names sound similar phonetically). People in isolated Dekalb County TN in those days were not often educated and, even if they could read and write, they apparently had difficulty spelling names. The son Emery (or Emory as sometimes spelled) was also known as John Emery Cubbins. Some of his descendants are in DeKalb County TN.

I have been looking for the roots of our ancestor William Cubbins for many years. In Putnam County TN, which is adjacent to DeKalb County, there was a family of people whose surname was McCubbins, but I have been unable to find any connection of William to them. Also, in the same time frame, there was a man named Thomas Cubbins in another county, but I could find no connection with him. Our William is a mystery person. He may have been older than his wife Unicey. He likely died in 1848 (based on record of administration of his estate by the county court on December 2, 1848) and left a young widow with three children. Per census records in later years, Unicey and her children are sometimes found in the household of her father Sampson Braswell and later her brother Leroy "Lee" Braswell.

I descend from Jane Dodd of DeKalb County TN. She was the daughter of James Monroe Dodd (born abt 1780 to October 4, 1834) who moved from DeKalb County TN to Pulaski County, MO where he died. A Dodd researcher sent me a copy of the court record of his estate administration in which he named two adult children who had remained in DeKalb County TN, one of whom was my ancestor Jane Dodd (who had married Elijah A. Pugh).

Who were the father and and grandfather of your William Dodd?
