My 3rd Great-Grandfather William Cudd (c1772-)had a brother named James, who was baptised 11th November 1770 at Braddan, Isle of Man, but i don't know any more about him at present. Their father was John McHood (the Mchood name then shortened to Cudd), their mother was Elizabeth Skillicorn (1731-1799). William Cudd was a Lieutenant in the British Royal Navy, and according to family legend was one of "Nelson's Captains", but I have yet to uncover firm evidence of this. There were two sisters, Elizabeth (c1762-)and Ann (c1769-), and two other brothers, Edward (c1761-)and John (c1767-). All of the family were born near Douglas on the Isle of Man. As far as I know, all the Manx Cudds were related, there were not many of them.
