John James Cudd is my husband's great, great grandfather.
I'm very familiar with his will and the Dorman surname and have attempted to find out more about Z N Dorman.
John had two sons that inherited his land that we know of from his will:
1.Jonathan N. Cudd who I think married Margaret Willis. They went to Alabama first, where I think she died and he remarried.
2. James A. [Alfred] Cudd who married Cordelia Mary Bryant.
He is buried at Boiling Springs Baptist Church and she with her family at Bethesda Baptist Church. "Delia" died first and he remarried Emily Harriett Willis.
From early 1840 census we know that John Cudd had three females living in his household.
John Cudd was married to Mahala Bishop daughter of Edmond L. Bishop. I think it was possible that she was not a first wife.
Females living in the household of John Cudd in 1840:
1. 1 40/50 years; born 1790-1800
2. 1 15/20; born 1820-1825
3. 1 10/15; born 1825/1830
I have assumed # 1 to be the wife and 2 and 3 daughters.
I have no idea who the daughters were but have intertained the idea that one could-have-been a Dorman?
Wish that I could help, Helen
