I am confused (not a new development!)

I am finding all databases that list James Cudworth who was born in 1635 as being born in Scituate, MA. Yet every database has parents James and Mary Sarah Goodman Cudworth dying in England. Did they come over and then return? How was James Jr born in the Colonies when the parents were in England? So confusing!!!

I also saw a post that said Mary Howland, wife of this James, was the neice of James Howland of the Mayflower. The Howland on the Mayflower was John not James--I'm a descendant so I caught that name difference.

Does anyone have an explanation of why James was born in MA, but his parents don't seem to have been there?

I need help with this one.
