Maternal GGFather William J. Collonan
Looking for any information re my GGFather.
Have very limited knowledge based on: Obit; US Census and SF Newspaper articles.
William J. Cullonan (b 1842 or 1846 in Clonmel (Obituary in San Francisco newspaper said native of County Cork) but believed to have lived and possibly baptized in Old Irish Town; St Mary’s Parish, County Tipperary and d 11/20/1894 San Francisco, CA) and Mary Ann Manning (b 1842 County Kerry “… we could see the Lakes of Kilarney from our home” … d 1912 San Francisco, CA). They were married in St. Mary’s Cathedral, San Francisco, CA on August 23, 1874, by Rev. M.D. Slattery. Their witnesses were: John Jackson and Alice Tobin. The name given on the Marriage was “Cullonan” and over the years became Collonan.
The 1870 US Census, ED 53: file 2 of 22, Microfilm # M593-84, for San Francisco, CA, lists the occupation of Mary Manning as: “keeping house”. The 1880 US Census, District 184, in San Francisco, CA, lists the occupation of William J. Collonan, as “saloon keeper”. They reportedly lived on Minna Street in San Francisco about this time.,
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
