Many of my Culwell ancestors were named "Caldwell" and "Coldwell".
Culwell is a variation of these surnames.
Oh, and Joan, Joshua Greenberry Culwell wqas a 1st cousin 4 times removed to me. His father was John Wesley Culwell, whose brother William Hightower Culwell was my great great grandfather. Their father Thomas Culwell was also known as Thomas Caldwell
