I would be interested in knowing a little more about the Reverend Mister Charles Cupples. I find that he was an Anglican minister in St. John's Parish (now Franklin, Warren, and Vance Counties, North Carolina) in the 1760s and 1770s and that he had a wife named Anne in 1777. Some of the websites I found him at reference the Colonial Records of North Carolina. Apparently these contain reports of the number of inhabitants and how many are baptized. Did he leave any records of whom he baptized, married, confirmed, etc.? It is very probable that my Hartsfield ancestors were part of his flock.
There was also a Charles Cupples in Lunenburg County, Virginia in 1756 (marriage bondsman) and in Halifax County, Virginia (attorney, 1753?).
