Reply to Mary Ann Jenkins:

I am interested in the fact that you have located Cupples relatives in Banbridge and that you
got their genealogy. My father and grandparents, name of Cupples, were born in Banbridge.
My dad in 1902 and grandfather in 1880. They always said they were from a long line of
Cupples' from that area. They were tailors and of Huguenot descent. They went to Canada
in 1904 and from there to Fresno after the Second World War. My great grand parents are
buried there as they shifted from Banbridge to Fresno in about 1908. I do not think anyone
with the Cupples name and heralding from Banbridge lives in Fresno now. My people came
on to New Zealand where we have lived since. There was another brother to my grandfather
who I believe went to Liverpool. Could it be that the three brothers you speak of were the
original Huguenots? Their name was probably not Cupples as I believe that is the Anglicised
version of the French name. Someone has suggested 'Couples'. I would be interested to know
the date of the three brothers arrival in Ireland and indeed anything about them. On the IGI
the earliest Cupples of them all was born in Scarva(h) about three miles from Banbridge in
1650. If this is true then I suspect he is perhaps one of my forebears and therefore one of
your and your Isabella's forebears.
