Earliest known ancestor John Curl born abt 1758 Shenandoah Co VA. died 15 Sept 1851 Carmichaels, Greene Co PA. He married Susan McKay b abt 1762 dau of James McKay, Sr and Mary Chester. Our line his son James Curl b 1798 Shenandoah Co VA Other children Sally b 1786, Edith b 1788, Jane b 1790, Nancy b 1792, Letty b 1794, Mervin b 1796, Polly b 1794 and John Curl b 1800. All b Shenandoah Co, VA. This James Curl married Nancy Ann Hughes who b 2 Sept 1785 in PA She died 2 Aug 1836 Carmichaels PA. They were parents of 9 children including John Curl b abt 1810 d Feb 1892 who married Sarah McMinn and James Curl b 1820 and died of drowning 1860. He marrried Levina Smith. Youngest son Alexander Curl our ancester b 24 April 1828 Carmichaels PA d 13 Sept 1908 Linn Co MO. Was your John Curl a minister? If so there are several mentions of his activities in the Sullivan Co History books.
