I am a great-great-grand-daughter of William Henry Curl (1823-1884), who lived in Alabama from 1851 on. I have been searching for his parents and am interested in the link you show with Jeremiah and Rebecca Jane as his parents.
The ‘legend’ I have for Jeremiah of Blount Co., Alabama is: There was a Jethro Curl and wife, Jerusha, in Hertford Co., NC around 1800. Jethro died in 1836. It is rumored that William Henry, born 1823 was the son of Jethro. It is thought that Jeremiah was a brother or uncle to Jethro and took William H. with him to Alabama. Jeremiah bought land in Blount County, AL in 1837.
It is also thought that this Jeremiah was born in GA or SC, was in Jenkin’s Militia in GA around 1812. It is thought that he traveled with nephew, William Henry (aged 13), through PA and/or TN on the way to Alabama from 1837 to 1851.
Does anyone have any truth to shed on this legend? Does anyone have proof of who W.H. Curl’s parents were? Would like to connect with any related to W.H.Curl's lineage.
