Maggie Curl, daughter of Maggie E and Thomas E Curl (Ohio/Iowa/Kansas)

I'm searching for ancestors of Herbert Addison Sayre and Maggie Curl. The Sayre side is fairly simple, there seems to be fairly solid documention on that side. The Curl side seems a bit more tangled.

I'm starting knowing that my grandfather was Clarence Herbert Sayre, m. Alice Marie Allen, son of Herbert Sayre and Margaret/Maggie Curl, with a sister of Pauline.

I'm not really sure how to present the data I've discovered so far, so I'll try to summarize then list sources at the end.

Maggie Curl was the daughter of Thomas E Curl and Maggie E (unknown maiden name). At first, because of the 1900 record listed belowe, I assumed that Thomas E Curl had a father named Thomas E also. In the 1900 census Thomas is listed as a male, born abt 1860, a widower. In 1880 and 1885, a Thomas E, b. 1831, is living with Maggie E. I thought this was her husband's dad because of the age difference and the fact that Thomas, in 1900, is a widower.

This gets a bit more complex. Suddenly, in 1905, a Mrs T E is listed as a widow. Looking at the image of 1900, it actually looks as though the sex of Thomas was female, scratched out and made male. I think Maggie E used her husband's name and whoever tallied the 1900 data saw the name Thomas and figure it was a mistake and changed it.

So, I now think Thomas E Curl, b. 1831 Ohio, married Maggie E, b. Aug 1860 Iowa. They seem to have no children in 1880, so I assume that Hary, Maggie, Olive, Goldia and Harold are the children of both of them. Thomas E is old enough that he could very well have had a previous wife and children. It may also be possible that Maggie E was pregnant with Hary before Thomas E married her?

Anyway, Thomas E Curl seems to have died between 1885 and 1900.

Does this all seem plausible? Does anyone have any further info on Thomas E Curl or Maggie E?

Notes: Thomas's sex on this form is crossed out and changed to M from F. The age is that of Maggie E as well as the birthplace, but the parent birthplace given is Thomas E's. I assume Hary died.

Olive, 20, b. abt 1890 Missouri, father born Ohio, mother born Iowa
Margrett, 49, b. abt 1861 Iowa, father born Indianna, mother Ohio. Margrette is a widow and a mother of 4, all 4 of which lived.
Harold, 15, b. abt 1895 Oklahoma, father born Ohio, mother born Iowa
Notes: Margaret's parents' birthplace seems to differ here. 1880, both were listed as Pennsylvania, now it's Indianna and Ohio. She also shows as having 4 children that all lived. Hary doesn't seem to be counted, should have been 4 of 5 children that lived.
