I know that Curnutte is a French name but I only know my family history back to 1776 when they moved to Tenn. from Canada. My great, great grandfather name was James Curnutte and moved to S.W.Mo. around 1840 married a full blood Cherokee with the last name of Gentry. He was a baptist preacher and the had 17 kids. They named there oldest son Thomas Gentry Curnutte which was my great granddad. He named his oldest son Guy Gentry Curnutte(my granddad). His oldest son is Richard Gentry Curnutte(my dad) and my oldest brother is Thomas Gentry Curnutte also. I know that some of my great, great grandfathers brother was name Willian, Harry and James and I am pretty sure his middle name was Henderson. He is buried in a small cemetary near Nevada Missouri and my grandfather and great grandfather are both buried in N.E. Oklahoma. My dad is 76 and still alive.
Anyway if anyone has information I could add to what I have I would appreciate it. Or if anyone would like more detail on what I do have please let me know and I will try to supply what I have.
By the way there is a Curnutte Family Reunion in Oswego, Kansas this Sunday 6/14/98. Most of them are 4th and 5th cousins to me so I don't know any of them very well but my dad usually goes and sometimes I go with him.
