You will find William Eli Curnutt in the 1880 Crawford County Arkansas Federal census. John Thomas is shown as the first born son, age 3. There was a son William H. 2, and a son, Hiram 6/12. All were born in Arkansas. His wife is Nancy J. William Eli was 26 in that census, giving him a birth date about 1854. His birthplace is shown as Arkansas. His mother was born in Tennessee and his father was born in Georgia.
He married Mary Angelina Standlee 27 March, 1884 in Carroll County, Arkansas. By 1900 he was listed in the Van Zandt County, Texas Federal census. He died about 1920. The date is uncertain because the cemetery where he was buried was flooded with the city built a water supply lake about 1925. Mary Angelina died in 1930 and is buried in Creagleville cemetery, Grand Saline.
I've been trying for several years to discover William Eli's parents. I was led to believe he was born in Searcy (White County), Arkansas, but could find no trace in the 1860 census. Hope this helps.
