Paul Lewis Currier November 2, 2007 WILLIAMSTOWN – Paul Lewis Currier, 79, of Baptist Street died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington after being admitted on Sunday, Oct. 29. Paul was born on the family farm in East Topsham, May 8, 1928, the son of Lewis and L. Gladys (Paul) Currier. He worked on the family farm with his father and brother until his marriage to Jane (McTaggart) Currier on Aug. 18, 1956, when they moved to Barre. Soon after their marriage he served in the U.S. Army from December 1956 to December 1958 spending 18 months of that time in Korea. After returning home, Paul worked at the Celente and Bianchi Granite Shed as a wire-saw operator. In 1966 he went to work for Wells Lamson Quarry, transitioned to Rock of Ages and retired from Associated Memorials in 1990. He had a great love for the outdoors and the woods and enjoyed cutting firewood, lumbering and gardening. He and his family moved to Williamstown in 1974 where he built their home. He is survived by his wife Jane of 51 years; his daughters and their husbands, Laura and David Wilder of Barre Town and Lisa and Jeremy St. Lawrence of Williamstown; his three grandsons, the joy of his life, James St. Lawrence, Michael St. Lawrence and David Wilder; his sister, Beatrice Jenkins of Sheffield; as well as a very special extended family. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother and best friend, Charles. His funeral will be held at the East Topsham Church on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in the East Topsham Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Topsham United Presbyterian Church in care of Philip Dodge, 10 Powderspring Road, Topsham, VT 05076. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, is in charge of the arrangements.
