Currier Family Records Volume 1
by Phillip J. Currier
pg 443 - 444
Joseph (Josiah, Joshua)6 Currier 6-121
(Seth5, Nathan4, Joseph3, Thomas2, Richard1) son of Seth and Allice (Sargent) Currier of Amesbury, MA.
(Allice is spelt this way in the book)

Joseph was born 13 August 1770, Amesbury, MA (V.R.) and died 15 May 1814, Amesbury, MA (V.R.). He married 26 August 1792, Amesbury, Betsey KENDRICK (V.R.) who died 19 November 1841, Amesbury. (V.R.)

In the Amesbury vital records under the spelling CURIER is recorded the birth of Josiah (Joshua P.R. 24) son of Seth and Ellice, 13 August 1770. This could be the birth of another child, twin of Joseph but more likely an error in transcribing records. H. L. Currier in his Genealogy page 91 states that Joseph and Betsey had 5 children but dones not name them. He also states that Betsey died in Lowell, MA 19 November 1841, aged 68 years. The children listed below are listed in the Amesbury vital records as children of Joshua and Betsey.

Children, probably born at Amesbury, MA (P.R. 24)
a i. Elsie b. 28 Apr. 1800 (V.R.); prob. d. Lowell, MA Elsa, unmarried, seamstress, b. Amesbury, dau. of Joseph & Betsey, d. 6 July 1846, a. 44y, 2m, 3d (Lowell V.R.)
b ii. Betsey, b. 29 Jan. 1803 (V.R.)
6-1211 iii. John, b. 10 July 1810 (V.R.)
6-1212+ iv. Seth, b. 1812 (V.R.)

This should get you back to Richard the immigrant.
