Currier/Jackson

Am looking for information on my 3rd great grandparents. His name was supposedly William George Jackson, however, family tradition says that he changed his name from Currier to Jackson. For what reason is unknown. But, reason suggests that he might have been running from the law. He would have been born about 1800 and was from Ohio, although there might be an Indiana connection.

He married Martha Eliza Bower/s born 1806 in Stillwater, Saratoga, New York. Her family moved to Hamilton Co., Ohio and she and William were probably married there. According to family tradition, William was trying to get Martha to move and she didn't want to. He told her he was going into town, got on his horse, left and was never heard from again. They had 4 children.

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
