Have been reading the various postings re: Cutshall families in Western PA. The Crawford County Cutshalls are descended from Peter Gottschall of Lancaster Co., Pa. The family of Parmenas Cutshall of Pittsburgh (Pitcairn and environs), is not connected directly to the Crawford County group. Both family lines, however, appear to have an Ira Cutshall as a member. Mike, your Ira, b 17 Nov. 1858/d 4 Jan 1934, was married to Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Heath, b 1864/d 29 Sept 1920. His line is: Ira5, Henry4, John3, Johann Philip2, Peter1. My husband's line is descended from Thomas Cutshall, brother of Henry [see #4]. There has been a lot of confusion about these families, so I just wanted to let you know that research has been done on both the Parmenas Cutshall and Peter Gottschall/eventually Cutshall lines. Contact me directly at Lhall@aol.com if you want further information. I published a completely documented history of the Crawford Co. Cutshall family in 1994. Mike Ott of Pittsburgh, a descendant of Parmenas Cutshall, has done extensive work on this line as well.
