Hi "cousin" Michelle
As far as I can make out, all the CUTTS in Coventry are descended from one family so we are blood-kin.
The original CUTTS was Joseph who married Mary ATKINS in the late 19thC. They were Swordsmiths/Gunsmiths by trade, I think from the Sheffield/Chesterfield area.
The family started off in COVENTRY around the Canal Basin area, then moved to Spon Street.
In 1924 there was an Edwin James CUTTS living at 28 Stratford Street, COVENTRY. I presume he's your Edwin ?
He was on the 1891 Census and I can date his birth as 1890. His parents were Edwin and Sarah and he had siblings, Walter Nixon and Dora Emma.
His father Edwin is not on the 1901 Census so maybe he died before then ?
In 1935/36 there was a Charles CUTTS at 28 Stratford Street ... his son ? Your uncle ?
I haven't researched the CUTTS a great deal after 1901. Edwin and Walter's families lived in the Avon Street area of Stoke, COVENTRY, near to Stratford Street.
The best thing to do is for you to obtain Edwin's Birth Certificate {£7] from Coventry Register Office in New Union Street [Cheylesmore Manor]as that will name his parents and give an exact date and place of birth.
Tell them he was born abt 1890 and his parents were Edwin and Sarah.
I'd be interested in knowing the outcome and would like to keep in touch.
Good Luck !
Kind regards, William
