Hi again Michelle
just re-checked the 1891 and 1901 Census - I think Edwin James' father, Edwin, was sometimes called Edward ... he's Edwin in 1891 and Edward in 1901 ... I'm sure he's the same person. In 1881 he's Edwin James living in Spon Street. His parents were Robert Mark and James. Robert Mark was my Edwin's brother.
In other words, if you apply for a Birth Certificate for the son, Edwin James, put the parents down as Edwin/or/Edward and Sarah.
In the 1891 Census, there's an Edward born 1871 and an Edwin born 1861.
In the 1901 Census, Edward of 1871 was an Iron Polisher. Edwin/Edward of 1861 was a Drapers Porter.
The family names were passed down several generations. Edwin James of 1890 had parents Edwin/Edward James of 1859 and Sarah. His siblings were Emma, Edward !, Charles Thomas, Jane, Thomas !, and Albert.
My Edwin was born 1936 and married Mary LAKE of Kenilworth. Their daughter Sarah CUTTS of 1868 married Frederick Josiah YARDLEY, a Carpenter, later of Godiva Street, Lower Ford Street. Their daughter, Lilian YARDLEY married Henry Lecky WILLIAMS, a Slater. They were my maternal grandparents.
I'll have to add the new info to my family tree.
So how are you related to Edwin ? Are you still in Coventry ?
Kind regards, William
