I recently found Henry to be a son to the Rev Richard and a brother to my Thomas C Dabbs. I have been going back over some old "burned fields" of information that I have looked at before and realized widow Eliza of John R Dabbs (another brother to Henry)is enumerated in the 1850 Davidson Co TN Census with her children, Elizabeth, John, James(Polk), William, Robert, and Eliza. Also listed with this family is Henry Dabbs age 26 (Born 1823-24). This must be Rev Richard's youngest child, Eliza's brother-in-law, living with her. My thoughts are, he was living with his older brother John after his parents died. That would put Henry @ 1 yr old when his father, Rev Richard died. I have not looked into the death of his mother, Elizabeth Mitchell Dabbs. But it may have been that he has living with this family for years. Then John died November 5, 1846, but Henry being single still resides with his sister-in-law, Eliza J Dabbs and her children, thus him being enumerated with them in 1850. The listing of him in this Census as TN born agrees with his birth of @ 1824, because we know that Rev Richard came to TN in 1822. The sibling that is next to him in age is Susan G and her birth date is May 19, 1819 in VA. Henry would have been the only child of Rev Richard to have been born in TN. The date of that 1850 Census is September 27, 1850. I have the Inventory and Sale document of Henry B Dabbs which records his death as December 18, 1850. He looks to be single at his death. Joseph W Dabbs, his brother, is administrator of Henry's property, all of which lists only a bay horse, a Lapine watch, and $18 cash, total value of $84! When the graves of Rev Richard and others were moved in 1957 to Nashville Old City Cemetery, does anyone know if Henry's grave was marked or was it one of the unmarked ones re-interred? I would have to believe that he being single to have been buried in the Dabbs family cemetery. I am going back to TN in June (Keeping my fingers crossed!) to go cemetery hunting. Does anyone know if there could be another cemetery that could have Henry's grave? I would like to take as many pictures of all the Dabbs grave sites as possible. Thanks, Dale Notify Administrator about this message?
