hello, my name is nicole marie dabbs. i am 29 years old and i live in peekskill, new york. my mother's name is cora mae dabbs, her parents leroy dabbs and catherine dabbs (smith) who were married and had about 18 kids including at least 3 multiple births. my grandfather's parents are eugene dabbs and mable dabbs (morotn). his parents names were beverly and maggie dabbs. we are an african-american family and it was kind of a shock to me to find that i had white ancestorsin my family. i learned of this about a month ago and i seem to be fascinated. i am now on a journey to find where my ancestors derived from and also what kind of name is "dabbs" because it is not a common name like jones, smith, or johnson (so i thought). is it a slave name that was given to my family or maybe the name was shortened in some way. i plan to take pictures of my family here in new york so i can post them on a site somewhere and hope all other dabbs families can do the same. maybe even get to know others and meet them. if anyone can help answer these questions it would be great. great to know where my family came from. i am also trying to look for old pictures.
