I am a Meacham/Mitchum researcher
I have a estate file from one Henry H Mitchum of Anson Co NC his wife was named Annie where he names 2 grandchildren he names as Penelope and Martha Jane Dobbs their mother was named Maria Mitchum who married Isaac Hill.
I have found Penelope on the 1880 census married to D BRown Dabbs
I have found her sister Martha married to Stephen H Dabbs
What i find also interesting is Maria's grandfather Henry had a brother named Jeremiah H Mitchum who's youngest daughter Mary Ellen Mitchum married Kenneth M Hasty
I believe that they are tied to my James Mitchum b in NC bet 1784 and 1794 possibly in Anson Co NC
Jeremiah and Henry's father was named also Henry H Mitchum
he deed these 2 brother's land in Anson in 1834
He is not the Henry H Meachum who married Nancy SMith however. this Henry and Nancy is who I believe is my ggggrandfather's parents.
I am trying to locate any information or possibly photos on these 2 families

Elizabeth Mitchum Ashcraft was the daughter oh Henry and the sister to Maria Mitchum Dabbs
Apparently Penelope remarried to a unk Hubbard as she is listed in 1910 with her son Willis Morven Dabbs
The 1900 census says Brown Dabbs was widowed apparently they where divorced if Penelope is still alive in 1910

IN THE MATTER OF THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE ESTATE OF HENRY H. MITCHUM, DECEASED.
THOMAS J. ASHCRAFT, being sworn, doth say: That HENRY H. MITCHUM, late of said County, died at his residence in said County July 13, 1892, without leaving any Will and Testament, and that THOMAS J. ASHCRAFT, this affiant, is a proper person entitled to Letters of Administration on the Estate of the said decedent, he being a son-in-law of said decedent, and the widow of decedent having no interest in the estate by virtue of a marriage contract. Further, that the value of said estate, so far as can be ascertained at the date of this application, is about $1,000.00, of which $500.00 is real property and $500.00 is personal property, and that ELIZABETH (Mitchum) ASHCRAFT, wife of this affiant, FANNY, MILTON and AVERY, children of MARY (Mitchum) HARTSELL, dec'd., HENRY HILL, WALTER HILL, MARCUS HILL, MILTON HILL, WILLIE HILL, SARAH FUNDERBURK, PENELOPE DOBBS, MARTHA JANE DOBBS, children of MARIA (Mitchum) HILL, all of age.
ELIZABETH (Mitchum) ASHCRAFT lives in Union County, N.C., the Hartsells live in this State, but their residence is at present unknown. Henry and Walter Hill live in Union County, N.C. Marcus Hill lives in Charlotte, N.C. Willie Hill lives in Arkansas. Sarah Funderburk lives in South Carolina. The others live in Anson Co., N.C. All these are entitled as heirs and distributees thereof.

IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF THE LATE HENRY H. MITCHUM
ORDER GRANTING LETTERS OF ADMINISTRATION
It appearing to the satisfaction of our said Superior Court that HENRY H. MITCHUM, late of said County of Anson, is dead, without having made a Last Will and Testament, and that THOMAS J. ASHCRAFT is a proper person to administer the estate of said intestate, and the said THOMAS J. ASHCRAFT having applied for Letters of Administration on said estate, and having qualified as such administrator by taking and subscribing the oath of office prescribed by law, having previously given bond as such administrator in the sum of One Thousand Dollars with JOHN D. MARSH and VERNON A. ASHCRAFT as sureties, which said bond is considered good and sufficient, it is, therefore, ordered that Letters of Administration upon the estate of said decedent issue to the said THOMAS J. ASHCRAFT. And letters issued to him accordingly this day. Done at office in Wadesborough. Bond in Book of Administrators Bonds B, Page 128.
