Hi, I'm new, but I'm a Dablemont. I live in NW Arkansas and I'm just getting into geneology. I don't know a whole lot, but here's what my family tells me (but I'm not sure how reliable it is). Victor Dablemont, my great, great, etc. grandfather, was living in France w/ wife and kids. They were really poor, and Victor went to the local church to beg. Supposedly, the priest got really hacked off, and in turn so did Victor. So Victor whacked the priest on the back of the head with a candelabra (sp'ing?) and killed him. As a result of that, Victor became a stow away on a cargo ship to America to get away from the law. Later, I think, his wife and kids joined him. That's all I know, and it's probably nothing you needed to know; I don't know how much of it is true either. email me back--I wanna know more!
