My ancestors were Thomas Lane and Nancy Dabney. Cornelius gave consent for Nancy to marry, but he is not her father. Cornelius had a daughter Nancy who married John Overstreet. There are some books out there that erroneously state that these two Nancys are the same person. At any rate, I have been trying to determine who her parents are without much luck. She must be related to these Dabneys as she and Thomas also moved to Wayne Co, KY. I also think there is a relation between Thomas Lane and Cornelius' wife Mary, but can not figure this one out either. Thomas' parents were William Lane and Ann Crewe. They lived in Hanover, VA and later moved to Guilford, NC. They went to Bedford, VA for a time and I believe that Thomas stayed for awhile while the rest of his family went back to NC. I thought I'd put this out there in case anyone came across any clues!! Even litte ones help!!
