I find that very interesting about the Dafferns in Herefordshire - anyone with more information about the Dafferns in the Welsh marches area please do get in touch - I am myself now living in the area and can do some primary research - was in Hereford Cathedral recently but no sign of us on the list of Bishpos ! If you take the Norman root of the name De LA Fern then we could have been one of the families that came to area with Roger de Montgomery

once I found an annexe to the Doomsday Book which had De La fern listed in about the 1200's living in the Welsh marches area but being a young and foolish young wizzard then I didn't bother to write the page number or exact book reference down

peace and light

Thomas Daffern
